Further Information on the Age of the Gate Sculpture:

Senora Meg Garduno is a scholar and author on the subject of The Lady of Guadalupe. She is a career translator for the State of California court system. She is the person who wrote the letter Jan. 2003 to the currant mayor of Los Angeles regarding the importance of the sculpture, which can be read on the home or history pages.

Here is a note from Senora Garduno and a postcard from Mr. Rodriguez (the legendary photographer of Cesar E. Chavez) sent to me in friendship. I had given a pew to him. I had asked for permission to have one when I was putting them in storage at the L.A. Times main building, as mentioned in one of the 3 Times articles the same day I dismantled the sculpture assembly. (I put all of the choir pews and half of those on the main floor in storage at the L.A. Times building.)

Senora Garduno had introduced me to Mr. Rodriguez and I was asked to give the pew to him. He remembered the gate sculpture history and importance from when he was an alter boy at the cathedral which had been closed. This picture of Mr. Rodriguez and Mr. Cesar E. Chavez was taken in 1969.
